Who Are We?

WELCOME TO TEAM 3355 THE PURPLE VIPERS

Welcome to the Team 3355 home.  Here's a brief history or who we are, how we got here and what we are planning for this year!

We started 3355 in 2010 with a handful of members. We went to our first kick off and learned how to put a kit-robot together. Our main goals were to compete, learn the systems, and have a robot that ran on the field every match.  We were pretty successful but were not competitive. In 2011. the challenge was a bit more complicated and our engineering skill sets needed some sharpening.  We added Lockheed-Martin Missile Systems to our mentor/patron group.  Along with the patron association, we grew our mentor team.  We went to the Dallas Regional but again, were not very competitive. We learned a lot however about organiztion, project planning and following through on a design.  In 2012, we went a step further with a robot that picked up basketballs and shot them at "hoops" at range.  We had a good competition. 2013 proved to be our BEST competition yet! We placed in the quarter-finals (7th out of over 50+ teams).  We used good project planning and had the expertise of our Mechanical Engineer mentor James Copps.  L3 Link Communication and Training systems became our prime patron. We could not have achieved our last year's performance without their technical mentoring and financial support.

2013-14 promises to be a great year for Team 3355. We've grown our team to 23 members; the majority of which are freshmen and sophomores.  This mix will enable us to sustain our team into the future.

We NEED your help in sustaining Team 3355. We need YOU as mentors, and financial patrons.  You don't have to be an engineer; just enjoy watching students grow into a cohesive team doing the hardest fun project they'll see in high school.  We are looking forward to seeing you at the Dallas Regional.

Contact Steve Miller-Coach if you are interested in either mentoring, donating time, equipment, expertise and or supporting our team financially.  it IS time and funds well spent!
